Mabel Elena Rivero is an inspirational dance teacher, performer and choreographer with an exceptionally broad formation in classical and contemporary dance as well as tango. She teaches all over Europe – we’re so lucky to have her giving these workshops in Norwich. Leaders have to do something that followers don’t: they have to lead. To learn to this powerfully and with clarity of intention, and at the same time also gently and safely, is the special focus of a leaders’ workshop.
Of course we’ll also look at many of the things that followers look at in their technique classes, but from a leaders’ perspective: pivoting, spiralling, walking…
Female leaders are welcome – please note that you will be paired with another female leader for the partnered exercises.
This may well be the first ever Leaders’ Workshop in the region. We’ll have a lot of fun together. Leaders, join us!
Your teacher: Michael Lavocah has been dancing tango since 1996. Teaching Tai Chi as well as tango, his classes emphasise body awareness, musicality and the joy of movement. He is known for his humorous approach and for making complex ideas easy to understand.

We have been running a Beginners class on Thursday evenings since September. We decided to run an Intensive Beginners Class to give any new people a chance to get up to speed and join this group.
Our teachers Mabel Rivero & Michael Lavocah both teach internationally and between them have over 50 years dance experience! This is a great chance to start tango with teachers who really know and love tango.

A whole year since his last talk, tango guru Michael Lavocah presents the life and music of Juan D’Arienzo, The King of the Beat, who literally propelled an entire city to its feet, inaugurating the tango dance revolution. The talk will be followed by dancing to D’Arienzo’s irresistible beats.
Michael is internationally famous for his ability to help people listen to and appreciate tango music. This is a rare opportunity to hear him in Norwich.
